We’ll have a 15 minute free phone or secure video call and get a sense of what you’d like to from therapy and if it seem like we are a mutually good fit.
If we agree to proceed, we’ll schedule a 60 minute Intake appointment and then 50 minute weekly sessions thereafter.
-
During the consultation call we will talk about what concerns bring you to therapy and your hopes for working together.
You can choose a secure video call or a phone conversation. Whatever works best for you.
Kids / Teens are welcome on this call.

My approach is warm, collaborative and practical. My hope is that clients feel truly heard and cared for - even when we’re challenging patterns that are not serving them anymore or examining hard truths.
Therapy should also feel like it’s moving you in the direction you want to go. My intention is to create a therapeutic relationship that feels secure enough for a client to say when they need something different or if they’d like to pivot in therapy. This time should feel yours.

The Intake Session is a full 60 minutes however all regular sessions are 50 minutes unless discussed ahead of time.
Therapy is a process where trust is key. I have found that weekly sessions to start off are ideal in getting to know each other and building the foundation of trust that is an essential factor in therapy being effective and meaningful.

Therapy works best when young people feel they have a private and trusting space to talk openly. That privacy is important for preteens and teens, too.
At the beginning of therapy, I meet with both the young person and their parent or caregiver to talk about confidentiality and agree on what ongoing check-ins will look like. Parents and caregivers are an important part of treatment and understandably want to know how their child is doing.
Rather than sharing the details of what your child says in session, I typically provide updates about overall progress, broader themes we are working on, and ways you can support your child at home.
There are, however, important limits to confidentiality. Your child’s safety, and the safety of others, always comes first. I may need to share information if:
Your child is at immediate risk of seriously harming themselves.
Your child plans to seriously harm someone else.
I have reason to suspect that a child or vulnerable person is being abused or neglected.
I am required to disclose information by a court order or other applicable law.
Whenever possible, if I need to share information because of a safety concern, I will talk with your child first about what needs to be shared and why. I generally find it most helpful to involve them in that conversation so we can communicate with you together in a way that protects both safety and trust.
