When you don’t quite feel like yourself anymore

Depression doesn’t always look like being unable to get out of bed.

Sometimes you are still going to work.

Still showing up for your family, work or school.

Still answering messages.

Still looking like everything is fine.

But inside, it feels like you’re just going through the motions.

Sometimes depression feels deeply sad. Sometimes, like nothing at all.

Working together in therapy can help you begin finding a way back toward yourself.

Depression can be hard to recognize, even in adults

You may not immediately think:

“I’m depressed"

You may be thinking:

  • I just don’t have any motivation.

  • Everything feels like work.

  • I’m tired of everyone needing something from me.

  • I know I should care about this, but I just don’t.

  • I’m doing everything I can to make it through the day.

  • I don’t really feel like myself.

Adults experiencing depression may still be working, parenting, maintaining relationships, paying bills, and doing what needs to get done.

If this sounds like what you’re experiencing-

I’m so glad you’re here.

Depression in Preteens and Teens

Depression in young people doesn’t always look like sadness either.

You might notice:

  • More time alone or on screens

  • Irritability or frequent conflict

  • Pulling away from friends or activities

  • Difficulty getting to school or keeping up

  • Changes in sleep or energy

  • Increased self-criticism or hopelessness

A preteen or teen may not have words for what has changed.

Sometimes:

“Leave me alone.”

is easier to say than:

“I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

I don’t expect anyone to walk into therapy and immediately tell me their deepest feelings.

Trust comes first—and trust takes time to build.

Once therapy starts to genuinely feel like your space, we have somewhere to work from.

Depression Often Overlaps With Anxiety, ADHD & Burnout.

Depression can make motivation and everyday responsibilities harder.
Anxiety may keep your mind constantly working, while ADHD or chronic overwhelm can add years of frustration and exhaustion.

Sometimes the label matters less than understanding what has been weighing you down and what might help things begin to shift.

You’re in the right place.

What does Depression therapy with me look like?

I do not expect you to walk into therapy feeling hopeful.

Come as you are…‍ we’ll start there.

Areas we might work on:

  • Exploring patterns that contribute to depression

  • Reconnecting with activities & relationships that matter to you

  • Quieting the harsh, self-critical voice

  • Building emotion regulation skills

  • Gently working with avoidance and withdrawal

  • The relationship between anxiety and depression

What progress can look like

Replying to the friend you have been avoiding.

Going to class instead of staying home

Laughing and realizing you had not done that in a while.

Feeling less irritable with your family.

Not automatically believing every harsh thought your brain produces.

Reconnecting with something that used to matter to you.
