When you feel disconnected from the person you love

When you’re arguing about the laundry for the 100th time, it’s not really about the laundry anymore.

Relationships can become strained for all kinds of reasons—stress, parenting, communication difficulties, unresolved hurt, or simply feeling like you keep missing each other.

Over time, couples can get stuck in patterns that begin to feel corrosive to both the relationship and the connection underneath it.

Couples counseling offers a way to reflect and understand what’s getting in the way.

In couples therapy, we may focus on:

  • helping each partner feel heard

  • understanding recurring relationship patterns

  • communicating needs more clearly

  • rebuilding trust, connection, and a sense of being on the same team

The goal isn’t a perfect relationship.

It’s more clarity, safety, honesty, and connection.

When you keep having the same conversation

Many couples come to therapy because they care deeply about each other but have become caught in patterns that neither person knows how to change.

One person pushes for a conversation while the other shuts down.

Stress, parenting, work, ADHD, anxiety, or an uneven mental load can leave both partners feeling misunderstood.

Couples therapy can help slow those moments down and uncover what’s happening underneath.

What couples therapy with me is like

Wayfinder Counseling office's comfy blue couch

My approach is warm, direct, and practical.

My role is not to choose sides or determine who is right.

I work to understand the relationship as a whole while making sure both partners have space to feel heard.

Together, we may work on:

  • Recognizing recurring conflict cycles

  • Communicating needs more clearly

  • Reducing defensiveness and escalation

  • Rebuilding trust and emotional connection

  • Understanding how parenting ADHD, anxiety or burnout affect the relationship

The goal is to understand the pattern you’ve gotten stuck in - and begin creating a different way of responding to each other.

What progress can look like

Catching the argument before it becomes the same old fight.

Saying what you actually need instead of shutting down or escalating.

Recovering from conflict more quickly.

Sharing more of the mental and emotional load.

Laughing together again.

Feeling like you’re on the same team.

You don’t have to wait until the relationship is in crisis

If you keep getting stuck in the same patterns and want something to change, that’s enough reason to reach out.

A free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what’s been happening, answer questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.
