When your family keeps getting stuck in the same patterns

You’re a family, and at your core, you love each other.

But when stress has been building for a long time, the whole family can begin to feel it.

Parents may understand why their child is struggling and still feel completely worn down by having the same conversation again and again.

Your teen may feel like they are constantly disappointing you or never quite good enough.

Does everyone in this house feel like they’re walking on eggshells?

Family therapy can help slow these patterns down so each person feels heard and understood - and so your family can build more workable ways of communicating and moving through conflict.

The goal is not to identify one person as the problem.

It’s to understand the pattern and help your family find more compassionate ways of relating

Family therapy may be helpful when

  • Home feels tense - even when no one is arguing.

  • Emotions feel like they’re running high more often than not

  • Seemingly small things blow up into arguments

  • You feel like your preteen or teen shuts down when you try and talk to them

  • Your family has experienced a divorce, loss or significant event

What does family therapy with me look like?

I work collaboratively with families while keeping the developmental needs of preteens and teens in mind.

Young people need therapy to feel like more than another place where adults talk about what they’re doing wrong.

Caregivers also need room to be honest about how exhausting home life can become.

My job is to help us understand both perspectives.

Sessions may include different combinations of family members rather than everyone attending every time.

The same reminder doesn’t become the same argument.

A teen says, “I’m overwhelmed,” instead of shutting down.

A parent sets a boundary without the whole evening unraveling.

Everyone gets a little better at hearing what is underneath the reaction.

There are fewer blowups and more repair when they do happen.

Home begins to feel a little easier to be in together.

What progress can look like

Your family doesn’t have to figure this out alone

Sometimes an outside perspective can help your family slow things down, feel heard, and find a different way forward.

A free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what’s been happening, answer questions, and see whether family counseling feels like a good fit.
