When your mind rarely gives you a break

Anxiety can be loud.

Sometimes it looks like:

Panic attacks, racing thoughts, or feeling physically on edge.

But just as often, it can look quiet from the outside.

Overthinking.

Second-guessing.

Replaying conversations and texts.

Trying to make the “right” decision but getting stuck because every option feels like it leads to a million more.

You might even be functioning well on the outside but your mind is working overtime behind the scenes.

Sometimes anxiety looks like perfectionism

For many people, perfectionism is not simply about wanting to do well. It can be a way of feeling in control and protecting your sense of self worth.

If I prepare enough, maybe nothing will go wrong.

If I complete everything, maybe no one will be disappointed.

If I can finish just one more thing, then I can finally relax.

But the finish line keeps moving and you’re left feeling like a failure.

That feeling like you’re always doing your best and it’s still not enough.

This is something I often work on in Adult Therapy.

Anxiety in Preteens & Teens

Anxiety in preteens and teenagers does not always look like worry.

Sometimes it looks like:

  • Irritability or frustration when things don’t go as planned.

  • Avoiding school, activities or situations that feel uncertain

  • Replaying texts and conversations, convinced they’ve said something wrong

  • Needing frequent reassurance

  • More time at home or on a screen

A teen may look like they don’t care when the truth is that caring feels risky.

If trying means there is a chance of failing, avoiding can feel safer.

Anxiety Often Overlaps With ADHD, Depression & Burnout.

Anxiety can be exhausting. ADHD can add difficulty with follow-through and feeling behind, while prolonged stress can leave you depleted or disconnected.

Sometimes the label matters less than understanding what is keeping your mind and body stuck in overdrive.

You’re in the right place.

What does Anxiety therapy with me look like?

My approach aims to be warm, collaborative and practical.

We might work on:

  • Understanding worry patterns

  • Doing less avoiding-even when anxiety tells you to

  • Building tolerance for uncertainty

  • Getting through high stress moments without being completely hijacked by them

  • Quieting your inner critic

  • Giving yourself permission to be human (and imperfect)

  • Recognizing and interrupting anxious spirals earlier

The goal is not to eliminate every anxious thought but to let it have less power over you and your decisions.

What progress can look like

Sending the email without rewriting it twelve times.

Going to the class you have been avoiding.

Recognizing a panic spiral earlier.

Letting yourself rest without guilt.

Making that phone call you’ve been dreading.

Taking the risk even though it might not go perfectly.

You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out

desk with a planner and notebook and laptop

A free 15-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what’s been happening, answer questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Reaching out for a preteen or teen? We can talk about what you’ve been noticing and whether I may be a good fit for them.
